Until Our Eyes Pop Out
Until Our Eyes Pop Out
This work was born from my thoughts on becoming the observed while we observe — on turning into the object of curiosity while feeding our own. In a fleeting moment, a feeling or sensation sparks our curiosity. As we look to see, we are drawn in, becoming what we were once curious about — sometimes without even realizing it.
In this piece, you’ll see a video of my eye and a brain scan I created with the help of @edzeali. It represents how our brain begins to function the moment we start looking.
Two cameras mounted just above the frame watch you as you engage with the work. Slowly, they move toward you, and eventually, your face appears on a LED screen to the left of the frame. There, you come face-to-face with your own curious expression. It’s the moment you realize: you’ve shifted from observer to observed.
